Just before sundown, a ray of light pierced the canopy to illuminate the ancient trunk of an old-growth redwood. As the light faded and the bird-song dwindled the forest darkened, and I was left alone to hike back in the dark. This scene was captured in Redwood State and National Parks in Northern California.
