Dubbed the "Great American Eclipse", on August 21 2017, a total solar eclipse passed across nearly the entire United States. This composite image was captured near Mt Jefferson in central Oregon. The main image was captured during totality, and the sequence of solar images were shot with a telephoto lens from sunrise through the duration of the eclipse. Each image appears at the location in the sky where that stage of the eclipse occured, but the center of the sequence has been enlarged for dramatic effect.
