A visitor from deep space putting on a show. In July of 2020 the comet NEOWISE passed the perigee of its orbit (point closest to the sun) and developed a stunning double tail. The thin blue line is known as an ion tail, while the wider white tail is composed of ice and dust. I spent several all-night imaging sessions to capture this comet. Well worth the effort, as this chunk of ice and rock won't be passing our way again for thousands of years.
