It seemed like a good idea to hike back on the far side of the lake, making our journey into a loop. It was not; there is no trail and the rocks and low brush which we had seen from afar turned out to be massive boulders and 6-ft high deer brush. Then, halfway through the scratch and scramble a surprise storm came over the mountains and started dumping rain, making our progress that much more slippery and exhausting. The moral of this story is that when it’s pouring rain you should always get your camera out.
